Little Things you Notice in Movies

Was watching back to the future. A few things I picked up that were subtle yet funny.

- At the restaurant scene where he grabs the skateboard and is riding around to escape 1950s biff and crew, everyone runs out of the restaurant asking things like, "Who is he?" and "What is he riding?" then someone sneaks in a, "Where does he live???" I found that hilarious.

- At the dance scene where hes playing the guitar after hes finished he is waving and it skips to his dad and he is back to playing the guitar from waving instantly.

- When marty first takes the car into the past it breaks down and he has to PUSH it behind a billboard because it has no plutonium. So he WALKS to Docs house... but later on he is driving it without the plutonium before the lightning strikes it... wtf?

The Sixth Sense is a brilliant movie

I watched it again the other night and I could not get over how good this movie was. For the elitist toolbag Shyamalan fans out there that think everything he does is god, well, you have an exception here, and for that matter the only exception. I can't stand the mans work, really I can't, but goddamn this is a pass. Honestly, after writing and directing a film like this, I could see how he could be so smug and arrogant, and mediocore films at best and acting as if "well, I did the Sixth Sense, they should love anything I do now even if he's complete shit." I mean Unbreakable was okay, but everything else, in my opinion, is unwatchable. Anyway, back to this one. The writing, directing skills, the ACTING (excluding Liv Tyler) fucking superb. It's one pure example of the little things that can make a film frightening, it uses all the techniques from "what you don't see is more scary then what you do see" to frightening dialogue, to subtle imagery that's terrifying to the eyes. And above that is the way he incorporated a high pace of emotion along with the subtle ghost story. The mother/son relationship, husband/wife, such power with them. The last 20 minutes of that film is so gripping and emotional, you'd forget that this was a ghost story to begin with. People most know it for the twist, but there is soo much more depth behind that twist other then "wowz, he's a ghost!"

One of the best films of the 90's.

I remember hearing about this guy and how he only had a pocket knife or some shit to survive what happened to him. I'm glad its someone like James Franco. He's come a long way since Freaks & Geeks.

I'll keep it short:

Pros: Not at all what I expected, the plot is actually very original (from what I know anyways)
Very engaging once the ball gets rolling

Cons: Worst.. ending.. ever
This is not a scary movie, period

CONCLUSION? Would have been an actually excellent and surprising movie had the ending not been completely abrupt and stupid.

Bother were pretty awesome..X-men had the better charactors and deeper plot, but Spiderman was the more entertaining to watch IMO

This movie is currently being filmed in Grand Rapids. Tomorrow, they are going to film less than 2 miles from my house on a road I live off of. I wanted to drive down there after work and see if I could witness some of the filming taking place, but I'm not sure if they will just let random spectators stop and watch. Does anyone know, or will I get shooed away? They are setting up shop in the parking lot of a church my family goes to, which is about 1 mile from my house. I was thinking I could just go there and act like I'm going to pray or something then stick around and chill out.

The city is in hooplah about this movie; it's a big deal for us. I can't wait to watch it and be able to identify all the buildings, stores, and roads.
