What the hell are you talking about? Watch the second video in the link I posted (at 2:18). It shows Crosby taking a poke at Schenn, and Schenn responding with a jab back at Crosby. Neither was particularly nasty, and Crosby definitely dove to try to draw a penalty (Look at Schenn. He didn't even break his stride to put that hit on Crosby). Why has the story been that Schenn cross-checked Crosby. They both hit each other after the whistle. Can we move on?
The hit on Briere was clean. I never said it wasn't.
“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”
Crosby takes a small shot at schenn in the side and schenn retaliates many seconds later when crosby is just headed to the bench. A shot in the back after the whistle is pretty much the definition of a cheapshot. and that's not a dive, you're crazy if you think it is...
You're ridiculous. I'm sure the two things that went through Schenn's head are 1. He could've hit me harder so I'll just go easy on him and 2. Oh shoot 3 seconds passed! Well I guess he got away with one there. It's hockey. If someone takes a cheapshot at you, you give one back so they know they can't keep getting away with it.
And it's clearly a dive. You can see in both of their postures. Schenn doesn't hit hard, and Crosby does nothing to brace himself, then looks first at the ref. Why don't you just admit you didn't see the whole clip and spoke out of your ass?
Because that is, by definition, a cross check. If you were to make a demonstration video of what a cross check is, that would be a perfect example.
Also, again, it was after the whistle, after the play was dead, from behind, on the way to the bench. It was a cheap shot.
I'm not sure if Crosby embellished it, but his head snaps back from the contact in an unnatural way. Maybe he didn't need to fall down...I can't say for sure. The penalty wasn't called, though, because of the other events going on.
Keep in mind I'm not commenting on crosbys contact before this incident, I'm only commenting on the shot to the back a long time later after a play is very dead. Had Schenn wanted to make a point, he should have done it to Crosby's face, because any other way is a cheap shot on an unsuspecting and unprotected player.
Also note that Crosby really hasn't said much about the hit when asked, and only looked to the refs afterwards but didn't bitch and moan.
I was just asking your opinion for context, because as I've said, I usually consider you to be reasonable. The hit on Briere was clean. I never said it wasn't.
Read my original comment. I said it was common in hockey after the implication was that this was a dirty play by Schenn/Philadelphia. Crosby's hit on Schenn was dirty, and Schenn retaliated with one of his own. Lot's of shit that is not legal in hockey will go on in the course of a game. This was two guys trading shots with each other after the whistle (incidentally, Schenn wasn't looking when Crosby laid his first hit on him). It's not a Philly thing. It's a hockey thing.
wooo sharks clinched.

this poll on NHL.com made me laugh
Which of these players will be the biggest difference maker in the playoffs?
- Pavel Datsyuk (Red Wings)
- Claude Giroux (Flyers)
- Henrik Lundqvist (Rangers)
- Evgeni Malkin (Penguins)
- Daniel and Henrik Sedin (Canucks)
- Tim Thomas (Bruins)
I didnt realize hank and dank are 1 player.
Pittsburgh has definitely cooled off a lot since the winning streak which makes me that much more nervous about this first round match up. They looked so-so against a Philly team minus giroux and bryzgalov, granted both teams were probably not throwing 100% into the game. I still think the Pens make it to the next round, but this is the kind of series that can take a toll on you through the rest of the playoffs.
well if we don't win the first round i hope we take that whinebag 87 out with us.
