Another shitty cop. This time, misuse of drug dog.

Same shit happened to me in high school. Cops saw me buying cigars, pull me over "for running stop light" (never happened) pulled dog, it barks, then they fabricated finding residue in the backseat (never existed because I never brought pot into that car).

Story (includes acts by other shitty cops abusing their dogs): http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...ef=mostpopular

As most of you know, I'm pretty pro-cop. But I've always been against a dog indication being grounds for a search. I've even mentioned it in previous threads. The potential for abuse is simply too great. Someone refuses to allow the cops to search their car, they can be detained until a drug dog can respond. How hard is it to train a dog to react to a signal from it's handler? It's a license to search any car for any reason.

There's already a lower standard when searching cars, as opposed to homes or property. The Supreme Court calls it the motor vehicle exception. In order to search a home or property, police must show a judge probable cause that a crime has been committed or contraband is present. The judge then issues a search warrant. With the motor vehicle exception, the judge and courts are not necessary. The officers can simply search a vehicle if they believe probable cause exists. However, if they do, they must explain that probably cause when the case goes to court.

And that's where the dogs come into the picture. If I'm stopped for speeding, the cop has every right to ask to search the vehicle. I'm SUPPOSED TO HAVE every right to refuse and be on my way. Speeding is not probable cause for a search, and neither is refusing a search. However, that's not how it works in too many police departments. In reality, Fido comes in, sits, barks or scratches the car, and boom, instant probable cause. They can now tear my car apart. It's a rule that begs to be abused, especially with seizure laws that allow these Mickey Mouse police departments to seize and keep cars and money from anyone they arrest. More of our civil liberties trashed in the ridiculous war on drugs.

It's a joke. I saw an episode of "Cops" once where a woman refused to let the cops search her car. They called in the drug dog, who, of course, indicated a hit. They search the car and they find......a shitload of power tools shoplifted from Home Depot. No drugs, none. Are these magic dogs? Can they sniff the difference between stolen and non stolen tools? The officer muttered something along the lines of "Well they probably recently transported drugs next to the tools and that's what the dog smelled". Nigga, please.

Despite my run-ins with the law and some of the shit i've said in the past, I consider myself to be "pro-cop." The main reason I post this shit is to try to increase awareness about this stuff happening. I think it's important for the good cops to help weed out the bad ones. Too many people judge cops with the same stroke.

Then I'm the guy you are looking for....not the droid....the drunken Jedi!!

The thing that is not being "touched" on....is how we stop this abuse!

    Step ONE.....GO!!!

(I'll let another proceed, but it should be something about lowering our legal system to tolerable drug levels......our law enforcement has better things to deal with)

NM......that shit has been said 18 thousand times......so I'll get more random

HOWEVER.....it never ceases too amaze me how new vids pop up reciting the same ole shit. Why because we have archaic laws from old men whom have no idea of what the young want, and what the old need.

lol I got pulled over, arrested and thrown in Jail for 36 hours for QUESTIONING (I HAVE NO WARRANTS AND NO CRIMINAL RECORD)... They pulled me over and impounded my car, stopped me for having a tail light out (ALL my lights work just fine, I took picture at the impound lot, no tail light out) They're trying to say I was in possession of a controlled substance and that I have federal weapons violations because I'm apparently "A Felon convicted of a violent crime" none of which is true... And all of this happened because they raided the place where I used to live under a name of someone who NEVER lived at my house, showed NO search warrant and when this all happened I was 40 miles away in a completely different county... I lost all of my guns and now have pending charges for some bullshit I'm not even involved with, I don't even know what they supposedly found... When all this is said and done I WILL be filing a civil suit
